With 15M Square Feet on Deck, NorthPoint Development Settles in to St. Louis

From St. Louis Business Journal:  When NorthPoint Development arrived in 2015, St. Louis was promising, if not a bit puzzling.

The region shared some market characteristics with NorthPoint’s base of Kansas City but not nearly the same bustle in industrial development.

“We saw St. Louis as a market that was overlooked. From where we sat, we didn’t see why St. Louis didn’t have the same sort of activity,” said NorthPoint Director of Industrial Development R.J. Agee, who along with Chief Development Officer Larry Lapinski and Vice President of Development Johan Henriksen are located in St. Louis.

Fours years later, NorthPoint has dominated the industrial market here, driving such new developments as Hazelwood TradePort, Gateway TradePort and Wentzville Logistics Center, as well as the Hazelwood Logistics Center, which cost more than $100 million and is 100% leased. Combined with an asset in Earth City and a new single-load building near St. Louis Lambert International Airport, the developer has nearly 15 million square feet of product either completed, under construction or in the pipeline in the bistate region.

Anthony Johnson, executive vice president and shareholder for Clayco’s industrial business unit, credits NorthPoint’s ability to think outside the box. The two firms have worked together on 27 projects, including 17 in the Midwest.
