St. Louis Developer Plans Apartment Project at Contentious Kansas City Site

From St. Louis Business Journal:  St. Louis-based JPL Development is planning a 160-unit apartment complex in Kansas City, according to documents submitted to the city.

Located at a prime spot at the southeast corner of Wornall Road and Interstate 435, the plans call for four three-story apartment buildings.

The 6.5 acres of land has evaded development for more than a decade due to strong opposition from nearby residential neighborhoods. Neighbors of the property also voiced concerns during Tuesday’s meeting of the Kansas City Plan Commission.

On Tuesday, JPL Development won approval of its development plan and a preliminary plat from the Plan Commission. The project, called Wornall Village, also will have to get approval from the Kansas City Council.
