Senior Living Development Planned for Prime Corner in Chesterfield

From St. Louis Business Journal:  Construction on an upscale senior living community just west of the Chesterfield Mall is set to begin construction this summer.

Pennsylvania-based Shelbourne Healthcare Development Group has tapped S.M. Wilson & Co. to build and Moseley Architects of Virginia to design a 150-bed facility — with 96 independent living, 37 assisted living and 17 memory care units — at 805 Chesterfield Centre that sits just west of the mall. An entity affiliated with Shelbourne acquired the vacant land from Sachs Properties in December for $4.4 million, St. Louis County records show.

The company had planned to build a 60-bed community on 16580 Wild Horse Creek Road for $11.4 million in 2016 but faced opposition from residents. The company worked with Sachs, which also owned the Wild Horse Creek property, to find its new location.

Shelbourne is finalizing financing for the development, said co-founding Partner Jim Kane, adding that a project cost has not yet been totaled. The city of Chesterfield has approved the project, and the company is hoping to wrap up construction in summer 2020. Atria Senior Living will operate the facility, he said.

“We do feel this current site is a better site because it is more centrally located … (and) certainly this a very attractive spot,” Kane told the Business Journal.
