Revitalized Jefferson Arms Hotel to Welcome Visitors with Vibrant Streetscape, Retail

By on November 21, 2017

Local landscape architects, [dtls] Landscape Architecture, and civil engineers, GLASPER Professional Services, have been engaged to revitalize the streetscape and public realm on the Jefferson Arms Hotel.  The massive 500,000 sf building occupies a critical location in downtown St. Louis at 415 Tucker Boulevard and a vibrant streetscape will draw from existing pedestrian traffic, while elevating the urban experience.

The streetscape will highlight the architectural character of the building and the high-design tenants. New lighting, pavement, street trees, and furnishings are being planned by [dtls] Landscape Architecture to bring a contemporary function and aesthetic to the street.  GLASPER Professional Services will be revitalizing the street interface to upgrade finishes and stormwater treatment. With a lower-level that extends to the street, all sidewalk elements are being designed with consideration to the occupied space below.

Numerous new street trees will breathe life into the building facade, while offering shade to dining customers at the planned restaurant spaces in the ground floor. Exciting lighting treatments will offer night interest and will help to highlight the architectural character of the historic building.  Elegant paving materials including mosaic installations will grace the entrances, sidewalks and new drop-off. Lushly vegetated planters and pots will add a sense of life and vibrancy to the updated streetscape.

The Jefferson Arms revitalization is being headed by Alterra Worldwide, and has been widely reported for breathing life back into the 1904 architectural gem.  The building’s 13 stories will host residential, hotel, office and retail uses once complete.

Beginning in early 2018, the first phase of building development will begin and will activate the basement with many exciting amenities that are free of charge to its tenants such as a music room, art room, private cinema, business center, fitness and yoga, quiet library, club lounge, game room, gusto room, tanning and playstation room. The ground-floor and 2nd floors will host offices, a co-working space, retail and a European flavor cafe with outside seating. Main tenants are Koleksiyon, the leading European furniture manufacturer, Linea Décor, a modern styled European kitchen cabinet maker, a diner, café and restaurant.  The interiors of the hotel and the residences will represent luxury urban living with a lived-in comfortable feel. Supporting these spaces include an energetic sidewalk and streetscape that will greet visitors and downtown pedestrians.
