Post-Dispatch Finds Buyer For Its Downtown Building

By on August 9, 2018

From St. Louis Business Journal:  The St. Louis Post-Dispatch has entered into an agreement to sell its headquarters at 900 N. Tucker Blvd. to StarLake Holdings. Tech entrepreneur Jim McKelvey founded StarLake Holdings in 2016.

“We are excited about the purchase and see great promise, not just for this building but for the north side as well,” John Berglund, founder and managing partner of StarLake Holdings, said in a statement. “The building has a rich history and we see our role as good stewards of that history.”

The Post-Dispatch will remain as a tenant inside the building and will continue to occupy the fifth and sixth floors. Terms of the deal were not available. The building had been on the market since 2015 as other U.S. newspapers, upended by a decline in print advertising, have sold their headquarters to generate cash.

Included in the sale of the building are four parking lots, totaling about 4.5 acres. This includes the main parking lot on North Tucker Boulevard; the Randall Gallery parking lot on Dr. Martin Luther King Drive; the Channel 30 parking lot on North Tucker Boulevard; and the Gateway Wholesale Candy & Tobacco store parking lot on Dr. Martin Luther King Drive. The sale is expected to be completed Aug. 24.
