NorthPoint to Start Construction on New Hazelwood Logistics Park

From St. Louis Post-Dispatch:  NorthPoint Development, a Kansas City-based developer of industrial business parks, will soon break ground on the first two buildings in its new TradePort park in Hazelwood.

The two facilities will total nearly 750,000 square feet.

The city of Hazelwood tonight will consider issuing approximately $50 million in Chapter 100 industrial revenue bonds that would facilitate up to 18 years of property tax abatement and a sales tax exemption on construction materials.

In all, NorthPoint is planning as many as eight industrial buildings on the 385-acre site located just north of the St. Louis Outlet Mall in Hazelwood. Hazelwood Economic Development Director David Cox said the value of the abatement for all eight buildings would be about $55.5 million.

Hazelwood has used tax abatement and other development incentives aggressively on other projects, including NorthPoint’s Hazelwood Logistics Center, a fully-developed 150-acre business park that includes tenants such as Amazon and Bunzl Distribution, which supplies food packaging and disposable supplies.
