Interactive Map: A Look at Housing in the St. Louis Region

From St. Louis Post-Dispatch:  During the past 15 years, some parts of the St. Louis region have undergone dramatic shifts in their housing markets. Across the metro area, home ownership rates fell during the recession, and are still lower than what they were at the turn of the century. In addition, the foreclosure crisis resulted in — or in some cases accelerated — depopulation in some neighborhoods, resulting in rising home vacancy rates.

But these shifts vary dramatically depending on where you live, and some areas haven’t followed the broader trends. The maps below take a look at how home ownership and vacancy rates have changed over time by ZIP code, according to U.S. Census data. Drag or zoom in or out to see other areas.
