Centene to Open New Office in City of St. Louis

By on April 16, 2018

From St. Louis Post-Dispatch:  As it waits for its new 27-story office tower to be complete in downtown Clayton, Centene signed a lease to occupy more than 60,000 square feet of office space in the Highlands near the intersection of Highway 40 (Interstate 64) and Hampton Avenue.

It’s the first office space Centene has committed to in the city of St. Louis following multiple expansion leases inked over the last two years elsewhere in the region.

Under the new deal, Centene will occupy the space at 1001 Highlands Plaza Drive that formerly housed AECOM, an engineering firm that downsized and moved to downtown St. Louis this year.

Financial terms of Centene’s lease were not disclosed. Typical Class A office space in St. Louis leases for more than $20 per square foot, according to research from Gershman Commercial Real Estate.

Centene’s deal at the Highlands will expire in September 2023, Centene spokeswoman Marcela Hawn said.

Centene’s new Clayton headquarters building, at the southeast corner of Hanley Road and Forsyth Boulevard, is under construction and should be complete in 2020. A later phase of Centene’s $770 million campus expansion plan calls for another 24-story office tower with space for a hotel, retail and parking.
