Carpenters Council Plans Members-Only Health Clinic

From St. Louis Business Journal:  The St. Louis – Kansas City Carpenters Regional Council is planning a “one-stop shop” members-only wellness center in an effort to boost health and reduce costs.

The council is partnering with Cerner Corp. (NASDAQ: CERN), a North Kansas City health IT company, on the clinic at the council’s office at 1401 Hampton Ave. in St. Louis’ Clayton-Tamm neighborhood. The goal, the council said, is provide a one-stop shop, no co-pay option for members and their families.

Among the services the council said it is planning to offer are annual physicals, mental health and substance abuse counseling, occupational injury assessment and treatment, and X-ray and lab services. Additional details about a specific health care provider were not available.

“The new wellness center will provide our members with convenient health care without any out-of-pocket expenses,” Carpenters Executive Secretary-Treasurer Al Bond said. “By creating a one-stop-shop for health and wellness, we hope to increase the health of our membership and their families while also reducing overall health care costs.”
