American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE) Metro St. Louis Chapter 19 News

By on June 10, 2019

In large part due to the help we received from supporters of ASPE, Tom Finan and Dede Hance of Construction Forum St. Louis, our ASPE Chapter is rejuvenated. Here’s the latest news from our Chapter.

We held interesting topics at monthly meetings during our 2018 – 2019 year. Meetings averaged 36 people in attendance while two meetings had over 60 attendees. We also hosted two successful, fun social events – a Trivia Night and a Night at Fairmount Races which we hope will become annual events. Both were well attended and enjoyed. The earnings from all the meetings contributed to our scholarship fund.

We recently held Chapter Board elections and are very happy with the combination of Board members who will serve during the 2019 – 2020 Chapter year. We have some experienced (longtime, older people) members and some new blood (younger, fairly recent members). Let us introduce them to you.

The Chapter officers include second term President John Smith, CPE, Preconstruction Manager for The Lawrence Group; second term 1st Vice-President Everett Myers, CPE, Senior Electrical Estimator for McCarthy; a new position for Mary Rotter, Sales/Architectural Representative of Golterman & Sabo, Inc. as 2nd Vice-President (moving up from a Director position); our longtime Treasurer, Jim Stukenberg (Semi-retired) will continue in that position as will the Chapter Secretary, Cyndi Walker, Estimator/Sales Support for Golterman & Sabo.

The six newly elected Chapter Board of Directors include Jason Emerick, Commercial Account Executive for Hallmark Stone (2nd year on the board and the developer of our new and improved website and master of our EventBrite reservation service, LinkedIn, Twitter, and all things electronic); Rich Ullrich, Lifetime CPE and owner of Everest Estimating (also 2nd year on the board – and in charge of developing our future Estimating Academy); experienced longtime board members Diane Rinck, Senior Estimator for Paric and Fred Waldrop, FCPE, Director of Business Development for Clay Piping Systems; and new board members Kevin Suiter, Vice President of Estimating for Murphy Company and Jeff Judge, Sheet Metal Estimator for Charles E. Jarrell Contracting Co., Inc.

This new board will have their first Board meeting on June 26, 2019. As an ASPE Chapter member, you are always welcome to attend Board meetings. We welcome your participation. At this 1st Board meeting we will review the scholarship applications and select the winner(s) for our $1,000.00 scholarship award to be given at our first monthly meeting in September.

And, speaking of monthly meetings, we will also be brainstorming to find meeting topics that will be of interest to you. If you have a topic you would like us to consider, are willing to present a program or wish to attend the June 26th Board meeting, please send a note to

The American Society of Professional Estimators serves construction estimators by providing educational programs, fellowship, and the opportunity for professional development. The certification program can lead to personal growth and professionalism.

We hope you will join us and become active members to better our Chapter and our St. Louis construction industry.
