The St. Louis region is home to a multitude of public school districts and a plethora of independent, private, and charter schools.

Decisions regarding education – from facility planning and placement to a family’s residential decision – help shape surrounding land uses and influence economic development. Strong residential neighborhoods support commercial development and small businesses; they also provide an accessible workforce that encourages companies to locate and grow in our region.

On October 17, a panel of experts will share their respective educational organization’s perspectives on growth, planning, and future development.

Specifically, the panel will address:

  • strategies for growth and site selection,
  • experiences of adapting to changing neighborhood populations, and
  • efforts to collaborate on plans and/or development decisions for the neighborhoods and communities in which their schools are – or will – locate.

Please join us for an interesting and provocative conversation about the intersection of real estate planning and education – and how both, working in concert, can help shape the future of the St. Louis region.

Panelists:

  • Kelly Garrett, Executive Director, KIPP Saint Louis
  • Christie Huck, Executive Director, City Garden Montessori School
  • Shannon Jaax, AICP, Director, Planning & Real Estate Services, Kansas City Public Schools
  • Rick Sullivan, Special Administrative Board CEO and Director of Real Estate, St. Louis Public Schools
