Alton Center Business Park Roof Work to Begin on 450,400 sq ft Building

From The Telegraph:  Large white plastic-covered bundles at Alton Center Business Park indicate a massive roof replacement project is coming shortly, possibly the first of more improvements.

“We will be putting a new roof over a significant part of the building,” said Mike Clark, president of Clark Properties of St. Louis County, which owns the 153-acre property at 1400 Discovery Parkway, Alton. “It is a substantial roof project.”

The former warehouse space, of two combined buildings, totals 450,400 square feet.

A building permit the city of Alton issued the business park on Aug. 29 lists the project cost at $500,000.

The rows of bundles of insulation, and TPO (thermoplastic polyolefin) single-ply roofing membrane material that will go on top of the insulation, will replace what remains of the original roof that went on 17 years ago.

That new roof will go over space occupied by tenants American Water national call center, Advanced Outsource Solutions and Imperial Manufacturing Group.

Last year, Clark Properties replaced the roof covering the northwest portion of the building occupied by American Water Resources, he said.

Simon Construction of St. Louis is the contractor for the roof replacement.

Clark said the company is replacing the roofing because of its age and the desire to make the building more energy-efficient.

Clark also said he is meeting with the tenants regarding other improvements at the property, but they have not yet come to agreements.

“We also are looking at a parking lot expansion,” he said.
